A hand tinted tintype photograph of a young woman, seated. This portrait depicts a young woman sitting with her left arm draped over an armrest at her side. Wearing a plaid dress, her right hand resting in her lap, she gazes directly at eh viewer. Her image has been tinted by hand, highlighting her dress collar and cuffs with white detailing to resemble lace. Gold paint is used to give her a round gold brooch at her neck, with a long gold chain that fastens at her waist. She wears a gold ring on the forefinger of her right hand and on the ring finger of her left hand. Her hair is pulled back from her face and she wears gold tinted earrings. The background has been painted over and is a uniform dark grey. The arm rest at her left side is draped with a patterned cloth. There is an area of red staining in the bottom right corner.
