Sharecropping contract between Amos G. Robinson and Berry Couch

A handwritten document on lined, off-white paper outlining a sharecropping agreement between Amos G. Robinson and Berry Couch. The document is dated [February 1, 1866] in the top right with [Georgia / Dawson County] at top left. The agreement states, in part: [this contract or agreement made and entered in to Between Amos G. Robinson of the first Part + Berry Couch a freeman of Culler[sic] of the Second part the said A.G. Robinson agrees to give to the said Berry one fifth of all the corn and fodder + oats that they the aforesaid Robinson and Couch may make on all the land that is here cleared and one half of all the new corn ground that they may clear + the said Robinson also further agree to find the said Berry his Rashings[sic] + 2 shirts 2 pear[sic] of Pants and to have his working done and I the said Berry Couch a freeman of culer[sic] obligate my self to do good work on my part]. The document is signed at the bottom right [Amos G. Robinson / Berry "his x mark" Couch] with signatures from witnesses John Byers and John Smith at bottom left. The document has been folded in thirds with label on the center third of the verso noting the agreement has been approved and registered in Lumpkin County, March 15, 1866.
