Lt. Colin Powell served with the 48th Infantry "Dragoons" from 1958 to 1960, first as Platoon Leader of Company B, 2nd Armored Rifle Battalion, and then as Platoon Leader and Executive Officer of Company D, 2nd Armored Rifle Battalion. He continued to wear the Dragoons insignia on his uniforms throughout his Army career.
