One (1) pin for Army star insignia worn by General Colin L. Powell. On April 4, 1989, Colin L. Powell was promoted to the rank of four-star general of the United States Army. This five-point subdued (black) one-star pin is made of metal and has two brass-colored metal backings. The star is one of several owned by General Powell and was worn on his Army Service uniform shoulder straps. General Powell’s earlier promotions to general include Brigadier general, one-star, on June 1, 1979, Major general, two-star, on August 1, 1983, and Lieutenant general, three-star, on July 1, 1986.
