A sepia tone carte-de-visite depicting a seated, unidentified Buffalo Soldier. Captured in studio seated on a wooden chair, the soldier poses for the camera. He wears a collared long sleeve jacket with winged stripes on his sleeves below the shoulders and at the forearms. His trousers are bright with a dark stripe down the sides. His proper right arm rests on an ornate prop. There are various handwritten inscriptions on the reverse of the photographic card, and a stamp that reads: [F. H. BARTLETT, / Photographer, / Cheyenne River Agency, / D. T.].
