Cartridge pouch for a Colt M1896 (0.38-caliber) revolver

A United States Army leather cartridge pouch for storing twelve Colt Model 1896 (0.38-caliber) Army Revolver rounds, owned by Troop 30 of Troop A of the 9th U.S. Cavalry Regiment. The rectangular pouch is made from molded leather and encases a wooden block with twelve drilled holes for storing rounds of .38-caliber ammunition. The top, center of the closure tab is embossed with the text, [US / A. 9. CAV.], within a double outlined oval shape. The bottom of the closure tab is embossed with the number [30]. The closure is a metal fastener that latches closed through a slit in the closure tab. On the back of the pouch are two (2) leather belt loops attached with metal rivets at the top attachment point of the loops and double thread seams at the bottom. Between belt loops is embossed text that reads [O.W.S.] sideways along the interior edge of the proper right loop and the text [R.I.A. / 1906 / T.C.] in the center.
