The woman is depicted standing in three quarters pose, with her face turned towards the viewer, and resting her proper right arm on the back of a high-back chair. Her proper left arm is folded behind her back. The woman is wearing a white dress with thin dark stripes. The dress features a fitted bodice with dark ribbon trim running from the shoulders to below the knees, around the waist, over the chest, and at a knee length ruffle. Dark, decorative buttons are spaced out in pairs down the length of the vertical trim and at the elbows. The dress also features a high lace collar, lace trim over the shoulders, and lace sleeves over her forearms. She is wearing an inverted tear shaped brooch at the center of the collar and has a watch with a chain, pinned to the upper portion of her bodice. The chair is positioned sideways, facing the left edge of the image. The woman is standing in front of a plain, dark photographic backdrop. The photograph has a soft, blurred, white border. There is pinhole damage at the top and bottom right corners of the photograph. The back of the photograph is plain and cream colored.
