A black straw hat with a cream hat band. The hat is composed of two panels of woven straw coated with black synthetic material (possibly acrylic). One panel of black woven straw makes up the crown and one panel of black woven creates the brim and they are machine stitched together along the crown circumference. A 1.75” wide hat band made from cream- colored (originally white) synthetic crepe is folded over and sewn along the crown circumference and a layer of buckram has been added under the hat band for structure. The inside of the hat is unlined but a 1.5” panel of cream-colored synthetic crepe is sewn along the inner crown. At the center back of the hat is a white brand label with red and purple edges that reads [NEW YORK / PARIS / MR. JOHN / CLASSIC]
