A sepia tone cabinet card photograph of a Buffalo Soldier wearing a buffalo hide coat. Captured in studio against a solid backdrop, a young dark-haired Buffalo Soldier, holding a 25th Infantry uniform cap, stands gazing to his proper left. He wears a calf-length buffalo hair coat and military uniform beneath it. The floor beneath him is a mottled floral pattern, and “J.C.H. Grabill, Photographer” is printed in brown ink across the soldier’s feet. “STURGIS, DAKOTA TER.” is printed at the bottom of the photograph card.
