Farm Interior: Breton Children Feeding Rabbits

In the nineteenth century, artists from New York and Paris often made painting trips to Brittany, on the northwest coast of France. William Henry Lippincott painted this interior three years after a summer spent in Breton villages. He included a sentimental reminder of his stay there, depicting the massive chimney piece from the Château de Lezaven, where he shared a studio with other American artists working in Pont-Aven.
