Moses Wainer Dykaar modeled this portrait of General George Owen Squier, the chief signal officer of the United States Army, from life. The portrait was reportedly so realistic that when the general’s picture was taken next to it, his friends said that the sculpture was “more like him than he appeared in the photograph.”
