Weaver's book

17th–18th century

Manuscript book of weaving designs and instructions. Thirty-one sheets of paper, some of which have been partly cut out, containing registers of births, etc., in the Jackson family, account of sea battle in 1739, recipes for bite of mad dog and for piles, epitaphs, poems. Written in several hands. First weaving plan is dated 1689, last is 1761. Instructions are for "huggabacks", damask diaper, coverlids, shagg petticoats, jersey, "sattan", linsey wolsey for petticoats, etc.
