Folio 82v: One Blow, Sam Recounts How He Slew a Dragon

In his letter to Manuchihr, Sam reminds the shah of his many battles against dirs in the service of Tran. He retells the story of his battle with the dragon of the River Kashaf, “as large as a mountain.” After shooting arrows into the dragon's maw, Sam bashed its skull with his ox head mace. This teat earned him the name 'One Blow' Sam.
