Bugs + Tulips

This mixed-media acrylic painting, from my archived art blog , depicts a colorful, textured landscape where ladybugs, blue bugs, fuchsia fireflies, purple pillow bulbs, orange fluff trees, and ghost tulips grow disproportionately in size. The ecosystem flies above and nestles within rolling waves of green, as the rose petal mountains and sea foam hill slopes can be seen in the distance. While the ecosystem may look gentle due to its rich color scheme, it survives within a hostile atmosphere thick with the mineral powders of azurite and malachite. Travelers must wear respirators when traversing the landscape.  © Elissa Capelle Vaughn
