Filippo Marantonio · 1890-01-01T00:00:00Z
Oil painting by Filippo Marantonio (1863-1937). Portrait of an old Italian lady wearing a Headscarf. Oil on canvas. This oil painting was likely made early in Marantonio's career, ca. 1890s. Maratonio seemed to focus on painting portraits of low-income people or peasants, giving his painting a rustic, human touch, with an extreme attention to detail. Presumably, he would have received relatively inexpensive commissions from relatively low-income subjects, requiring him to produce a large volume of paintings. Approximately 6 by 8 inches. Classical realist style. Photo made by making multiple high resolution macro digital photos with a Samsung A71 cell phone and stitching them together using Microsoft Image Composite Editor.
