Architecture Can Orient Us in the World—Physically and Metaphysically In Dante|Telescope House, the 1:4:9  North Star Monolith—at once painting, sculpture, and architecture—stars as the primary agent of this superpower .  The Telescope—a steel beam that sights the North Star—gives us compass bearings within the material universe while carrying poetic and symbolic charge: a lightning bolt of illumination and mythic power to guide us along our human and superhuman passage.  The word DANTE — naming the author of the 14th-century epic poem  The Divine Comedy , which unfolds a journey through the afterlife— recalls the  millennia  when books were buildings and buildings were books. Together,  DANTE and Telescope remind us  that buildings began as an inquiry into the Architecture of Existence.  The first architects—astronomer-priests—marked out sacred space to observe and contemplate reality, gazing outward to the heavens and inward to the soul to unriddle the Construction of the World and give expression to their vision. What is the Form & Story of the Architecture of Reality—and our place in it? Where are we? These questions—echoes of an eternal quest for truth—infuse Dante|Telescope House.
