Paintings |  Room 5 ), but  it would be fifteen years —and  several murals later — before I painted on canvas.  O ther than the last two slides, e verything you see in the viewer above , I created before I did so: during the crucial turning-point years of 1986 through 1995 — the year I finally brushed paint on a canvas   (04. Paintings |  Room 2 ). The last two slides are e xamples of what I call " MetaDrawings," made possible by digital technology not available during those draw-by-hand years,  1986 through 1995.  On my computer in 2007, I created the next to last slide, "Cervantes: Form & Meaning." I include it  on page 513 in my book  Visual Ef9ects . I began the next-to-last slide  in 1989 as an ink-on-mylar drawing by hand then developed it in 2017 as a digital collage. I include a variation on page 87 in my book  Garches 1234 .
