Målningen bör, enligt George Keyes, vara ett tidigt arbete av Pieter Mulier. Den kan sannolikt dateras till ca 1630 efter jämförelser med Jan Porcellis och Claes Claesz. Wous målningar, "Fartyg i storm vid klippig kust" och "Tre skepp i storm på öppet hav", båda i Hallwylska museets samlingar (nr 134 respektive nr 157). -*- This paintings, according to George Keyes, is probably an early work of Pieter Mulier. It can probably be dated to about 1630, on the strength of comparisons with Jan Porcellis' and Claes Claesz. Wou's paintings, "Ships in a Storm on a Rocky Coast" and "Three Vessels in a Storm", both in the collection of the Hallwyl Museum (no. 134 and no. 157).
