Don Bergland · 1983-11-15T00:00:00Z
Major fine arts milestone and commercial provenance record documenting the second consecutive solo painting exhibition by Canadian artist Don Bergland on Vancouver's elite "Gallery Row" (Granville Street). Following the significant commercial success of his 1982 debut, the directors of the prestigious Atelier Gallery, Ilana Aloni and prominent modernist painter Enn Erisalu, established an annual solo showcase for Bergland's work. Operating a fully integrated production studio from Bowser, BC, Bergland spent 1983 refining his signature "Exile" landscape style and hand-crafting custom wood frames for the entire collection. Transporting the finished, heavy framed inventory to the city core via his personal vehicle, the exhibition ran from November 15 to November 29, 1983. The showcase achieved another major commercial sales, solidifying Bergland’s regional art audience, secondary market values, and his viability as a full-time professional career artist.
