Summary: Figure of an Indian Iquito naked and with his back to the spectator, with the only ornament of a band of feathers that crosses his back. Traditionally this drawing, based on an initial note (Inventory No. 02215), has been attributed to one of Tadeo Hanke’s companions during his explorations in the Marañón River area, after the berth in the port of El Callao. Performed during the Malaspina expedition, which took place between 1789 and 1794. Commander Alejandro Malaspina lead the expedition organized by the Spanish crown to tour his American possessions, according to a plan presented by the sailor himself. The material gathered is scattered in different institutions of Spain, England, Argentina and Chile.
