Colenbrander designed decorations for porcelain and earthenware, carpets, and upholstery fabric. Flower Market may be a design for a tile picture or plaque. A bunch of tulips can be discerned in the ingenious pattern of lines. At the upper right the artist noted the colours for the pottery painter charged with executing the tableau. Colenbrander signed his drawings meticulously, often giving the exact date: here 30 May 1917.
