Four teapot paintings from a very large series of images constructed by Don Bergland in January, 2023, sometimes poetically referred to as “ Crystal Balls.”  This iteration, “ A Gypsy Serenade in Four Parts” presents four surreal teapots constructed as three-dimensional digital models with the artist's original paintings mapped onto their surfaces. Rather than functional vessels, they become psychological objects that blur the boundary between domestic artifact, portrait, and sculpture. Displayed in theatrical settings, the works transform familiar forms into enigmatic characters, inviting viewers to imagine hidden narratives beneath their painted skins. As the artist suggests, "Some say teapots. I say crystal balls."
