The artist made the trapezoidal drawing as a design for a mural. In the center, Samson plunges onto the lion to tear it apart. A battle between Landheer and Rittern takes place on the left, with tents closing the scene backwards. To the right, the viewer opens a view into a tent, in which a servant opens a sack to accept the stripped head of Judith’s Holofernes. The beheaded body lies in the background. Neither a reference to the artist nor to the time of creation is integrated into the representation.
