The name of the species comes from the very beautiful drawing of individuals. The taxon presents populations introduced in Spain and France. The females participate in several copulations, each accompanied by the laying of a tip, in total reaching up to 1000 eggs laid one night. Common species (LC) according to IUCN Red List.
