MEDIEVAL COIN

Here we have a good (if a little broken!) example of a hammered silver penny of Edward I (new coinage 1279-1307). The coin is badly fragmented with much of the rim to the right of the sovereigns portrait, missing. None the less, that which remains is well defined with only slight clipping.Given the three pellets on the breast, we may consider this to be a class 4e.
