This Silver 3d is from the reign of Elizabeth I for the year 1578. The rim of the top left quadrant on the obverse is missing and whilst the portrait and heraldic shield on the reverse are well worn, the legends have remained remarkably crisp. The coin bears the initial mark for the Tower mint 1578-80.
