ROMAN COIN

This is a Roman silver denarius, probably of Antoninus Pius (AD138-161). That idea based on the portrait bust facing right with the profile of a probable beard on the obverse and the depiction of Fortuna standing left holding rudder & cornucopia, on the reverse.The coin is now much corroded with a dark grey/black patina but, under close inspection, there is evidence of the silver content with small but numerous flecks of silver, over and through the coin.
