A copper alloy Modern locket in the shape of a book with hinged covers (now corroded in an almost closed position). The central element of the book, the 'pages', may be a frame for an oval portrait or lock of hair; this is the case with NLM-9DFCC2 which is a better preserved example. The 'pages' have been filled in with soil and as the covers no longer open, cannot be seen. The external faces and spine are decorated with an ornate floral scheme which is not the same design as NLM-9DFCC2. The suspension loop is retained on the upper edge of the inner 'page' but has been filled in with soil or corrosion, and a tiny catch (now missing) would have engaged in a slot on the back cover. This locket has a dark green patina.
