A possible Post Medieval copper alloy strap end or hooked clasp, 28mm long, 14mm wide and 0.5mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 1.35 grams. The object consists of a sub triangular plate which has two rounded protrusions on its upper edge, giving it an overall 'heart' shape. At this point there is one circuler sectioned rivet in the centre of one of the curves and a hole, where a second seems to have broken off, in the other. At the base of the object, also on its reverse, is a small rectangular protrusion which may be a fixing lug. Here the object appears to be broken and may have held a rounded hook? The object is decorated with an engraving of a late medieval helmet, left, with pointed mouth guard with two spears and a dragon? sitting on a mantling (a support of rolled cloth) above. This is obviously depicting a family crest.
