Description: Late Medieval gold finger-ring, 18mm in diameter, 4mm wide and 1mm thick. It is in good condition and weighs 1.32grams. The ring has a rectangular sectioned loop and is inscribed on the outer surface with three words divided by foliate engraving, a French inscription in gothic or 'blackletter' script, which read SANS DE PARTIER, meaning without end or leaving, and meaning 'I am yours forever', an amatory phrase.Discussion: For similar rings see Treasure cases: 2007 T671 (PA&T Annual Report 2007 fig. 301) and 2003 T202 (TAR 2003, fig. 183).As the object is made of gold and is over 300 years old, it constitutes potential Treasure under the stipulations of The Treasure Act 1996.
