Medieval cast belt mount in the form of the bust of a crowned king, with two separate rivets. There are two apertures in the crown and details of the both crown and face are picked out in deep V-sectioned engraving or “chip carving”. This is a rather more elaborate version of a well-known 14th – early 15th century. type, e.g. Ivens et al. 1995 fig.153 nos.62-4. It is unusual in having two rivets and for extending below the head to include both neck and rudimentary shoulders.
