Medieval possible drop handle from a vessel, straight cast rod, both ends missing. Over half of the length is of hexagonal section. Beyond a collar decorated with closely spaced cross-hatched engraving the section becomes sub-rectangular. Length >60mm. Diameter 6.5mm at one end and 8.5mm at the collar. At the other end 8 x 6mm. The hexagonal section and the heaviness can be compared with a late 13th or 14th-century handle from London (Medieval Household no. 487), while the robustness is too great for a folding balance (cf. the largest example from Winchester (Biddle 1990 no. 3211).
