The Portable Antiquities Scheme

Medieval copper alloy frame of strap clasp or buckle with the outside edge in the form of a crowned head, cast but with features enhanced by engraving. The sides widen at their junction with the outside edge into what appear to be shields, both with three engraved chevrons. Gilmore's Head and Shoulders type (http://finds.org.uk/blogs/westmidlands/2011/01/06/kings-head-strap-clasps-or-buckles/). Length 30mm, width 24.5mm. Dates to the 14th century.
