Incomplete late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy Nauheim Derivative or La Tène III brooch. The pin, most of the spring and of the forward-facing hook, and a small part of the upper end of the catchplate missing, but otherwise the object is in fresh condition. the wings are plain. The bow is of hexagonal cross-section, with three faces on the front, chamfered sides and a flat reverse. The front is covered over its whole length with rocker-arm engraving, which also occurs on both faces of the catchplate. Wingspan 16.5mm. Length 53.5mm. 1st century. In use after 75/80 AD.
