Medieval Folding strap clasp. Simple one-piece frame with convex sides and ridge near each corner. Folding end with straight outside edge, and solid bar-mount with bevelled sides and secured by single rivet. Sheet plate with frame recesses and band of rocker-arm engraving near slightly concave attachment edge. Single rivet hole is empty and has been replaced by another rivet further from the edge. Frame 16 x 18mm. Plate 26.5 x 13mm. 14th century.
