The front part of a gilt copper alloy rectangular buckle frame, which is broken before the fold, with a rivet at both corners of the sides and on the inside edge. Depicts a running male figure, probably helmeted, with a shield in his left hand and a club in his right, he wears a tunic and is reserved against a light blue enamelled ground. This is set within a frame in which some darker blue enamel remains. Fine rocker-arm engraving runs around the sides and edges. Probably for use with a single or double-looped frame, e.g. Fingerlin 1971 Abb. 8-21. Measures >31mm x 36.5mm. Thickness 1.5mm. Late 12th – early 13th century.
