Fragment of a silver gilt annular brooch. One end appears to be broken at a restriction to hold the pin head. The other end is broken in the middle of an engraving, the remaining letters of which appear to be 'a n i o'. There is a raised border around the edge of the fragment and each letter is seperated by a groove. The lettering appears to be lombardic, indicating a 13th -14th century date. There are other examples of similar brooches with engraving from East Anglia, for example, Shadingfield, Suffolk (2003 T299) (Treasure Annual Report 2003, p96, no 146).
