Copper-alloy belt-mount. It is flat, quite thin (c. 1 mm) and almost square, measuring 33 x 34 mm. There is a copper-alloy rivet in each corner, 3 to 4 mm long, and the mount is decorated with a black-letter lower-case m, probably for the Virgin Mary. The m is on a background decorated with bold rocker-arm engraving, and all is enclosed within an engraved single-line border, which has been drawn with a couple of false starts. The style of the lettering dates it broadly to the 15th century.
