A complete silver cuff link element, of Late Post Medieval to Early Modern dating (AD 1720s to AD 1800s).The cuff link element was originally circular in shape with a flattened looped shank and a concave back. It is now sub circular. The edge of the element is formed by the upper edge being folded over at a right angle. There is fine engraving on the upper surface of the cufflink. In the centre, is a rose with an annulet centre and eight trifolitate petals. Around the edge of the cufflink, is a circular border of a repeating ring and dot design. The imprint of the stamped border can be seen on the reverse. The loop consists of an integral loop of silver metal, with a circular cross section.The element measures 14.3 mm in length, 13.3 mm wide and 4.4 mm thick. The metal is 0.5 mm thick. It weighs 0.6 g.The element is a light to dark grey colour, with an even surface patina.Two similar cufflinks have been recorded on the PAS database as ESS-444C05 and ESS-4434A4. Both of these have been dated from the mid 17th Centuries to the 19th Centuries. As such they are older than 300 years and not classified under the Treasure Act 1996.
