Her right elbow is poised on a pile of two books, which rest on a cloth-covered table which has another book on it. She holds her right index finger to her chin, and her left hand holds a lace cloth. Her third finger wears a mourning ring. She wears a dark silk dress with a brooch at the front, low on the shoulders with a fine lace edging. Her hair is very dark and coils to cover her ears. A long chain around her neck to her waist. The table is covered with a cloth. She stands in front of a painted backdrop, a view with lake, trees and hills. Hand coloured.
