Report for H M CoronerTreasure Number: 2011 T414PAS Database number: WMID-DA2787Period: c 17th centuryDate of Discovery: 15/5/11Circumstances of discovery: whilst metal detectingDescription: possible post-medieval silver pendant or reliquary (?), oval in plan. On one face there is a punched pattern of a flower with three petals and a stem reaching the suspension loop end, and additional etching to mimic further foliage. This surface is worn, scratched and dented. The reverse panel is soldered along one side to the front panel, possibly to give the pendant a ninety degree siding from the front face. There are also five small triangular cut outs, at equal intervals, in the back panel at the point is has been soldered on- possibly to aid the curving of the metal. This siding has a narrow double line of punch marks around it in a wave design. The back panel is cut into a 'B' shape, with each section containing punch mark designs continuing from the wave design on the siding. This was soldered into shape at the top and bottom to the siding, but has since been squashed down into the body of the pendant which suggests that the pedant may have been domed and so D-shaped in section.
