Lettering: A theatrical chymist. Lettering on the retort/alembic: "Ignorance Impertinence Coxcomity Misconception Raving Ranting Grinning. Snarling Tortured attitudes Envy. Detraction". Lettering on the furnace; "Academy". Holman emits the word "puff" from his mouth and his backside, and is accompanied by papers inscribed with the names of his roles: Mackbeth, Timon, Benidict, Werter, Richard, Hamlet. The bellows used to heat the furnace is inscribed: Morning post.
