A marble vase. Etching by G.B. Piranesi. The vase bears around the outside relief sculptures of putti hanging festoons. Piranesi states that the vase was in the Villa Valenti in Rome. Subsequently the villa was renamed the Villa Paolina and Villa Bonaparte, and is currently (2011) the residence of the French ambassador to the Holy See (Carlo Pietrangeli, Villa Paolina, [Firenze]: Istituto di studi romani, [1961], no mention of Piranesi or of this vase).
