The abduction of the Sabines is a legend related to the founding of the Roman Empire. According to legend, Romulus founder Romulus would have tried to increase Rome’s population by inviting sabins to a party, with the Romans forcibly removing many of their women in married and made them their wives. The Sabine king then launched a war against the Romans. However, the Sabine wives of the Romans, who were now prospective mothers, stopped a devastating final battle and instead induced the parties to make peace and enter into a coalition.
