The Bible states that John was arrested by Herod Antipas after criticizing his marriage to his brother’s wife. He was executed by beheading after a time of captivity. Flavius Josefus also reports on John the Baptist’s execution, but merely states that he was a charismatic leader with many disciples and thus a political risk factor. Assembly/Frame: Unframed
