Engraving on paper of the reconciliation of brothers Jacob and Esau from a series of Old Testament stories, published by Jan Sadeler (1550-1600) after a design by Maarten de Vos (1532-1603), probably in Cologne c. 1582. Latin text inscribed below from Genesis 32 and 33. Jacob kneels in supplication before his brother Esau whose retinue are dressed in military attire. Jacob’s family and flocks in the background. Numbered 46 in upper right corner. Pen and ink sketch by Maarten de Vos dated 1581 in the Art Institute of Chicago (2015.207).
