Engraving on paper of the Stoning of St Paul from a series based on the Acts of the Apostles, engraved and published by Jan Sadeler (1550-1600) after a design by Maarten de Vos (1532-1603), in Cologne c. 1580. Latin text inscribed below is from Acts 14.19. A crowd attacks Paul with stones outside Lystra. He is rescued by Barnabas and other disciples who gather around him. In the background, Paul heals a paralysed man at the city gate.
