Sculptural group known as "Gaul Killing Himself and His Wife ( "The Galatian Suicide"). The Gallic man depicted plunging a sword into his breast, looking backwards while he supports a dying woman. Roman copy after an hellenistic original. The sculpture group made its first appearance in a Ludovisi inventory taken 2 February 1623 and was possibly found on the grounds of the Villa Ludovisi, Rome, shortly before that.
