In the picture, part of the defense walls of the medieval fortress with towers (bastions), 20 in number, which were maintained, in peacetime and defended, in wartime, by craft guilds, whose name they wore. The fortifications were erected in several stages, starting in the 10th to 11th centuries and completed in the late 16th century. In 1820 we began the official rubble of the city towers and walls, an operation concluded in 1896. Photography after an engraving from the early 19th century.
