A copper alloy ring or bead of middle Bronze Age to late Iron Age date, 1500 BC - AD 50. The object is circular in plan and sub-oval (lentoid) in cross section. The object has a large central circular hole with an internal diameter of 11.57mm. The ring measures 22.04mm in diameter, 6.24mm thick and weighs 9.7g. The object has a smooth mid-dark brown patina. There is no obvious cast or incised decoration present. There are several areas where abrasion has removed this patina and light green powdery corrosion has developed.The function of this bead or ring is uncertain with possible uses including harness or similar functional fitting possibly associated with personal dress.
